Happy New Year, Keyclubbers!

It's been a while since the last post. I'm sorry for the lack of updates. But now that I'm updating again, there are a few things you should know about.

DCON! District convention is coming up in April. It's a great experience and it's really fun, so i suggest you all try to go. If you plan on going, registration forms will be handed out at one of the meetings this month. The fee for registration is $152. Registration is due on February 12th. You need to be an official member of Key Club to attend. Please apply to be a member before February. Membership fee is $15. Don't miss out.

We know that the fee for DCON is high, so we're planning to have lots of fundraisers in order to lower the price. We plan on having another California Pizza Kitchen takeover and a Yogurt Works fundraiser in order to raise more money. We have even more restaurant fundraisers in mind, so attend all the club meetings to stay updated on our announcements.

Lastly, a very exciting event is coming up. It's the D12 West Mr. Trooper Pageant! Male representatives from each school in Division 12 West will compete in a pageant and test their key club knowledge. We have chosen a special candidate to be our representative; Kingston Ngo. You should know that..

Hey Key Clubbers!

We had a meeting today and if you missed it, there are a lot of things you should know.

It's that time of year; DUES! In order to become an OFFICIAL member of Key Club international, you need to pay the membership dues. They are due this Friday (October 24th) and they cost $10. It really is best to pay on time, otherwise, the price raises to $15. Also, when you pay the fee, remember to get a membership application. When you pay your dues, you get a membership card, a pin and INSURANCE. So, if ever you hurt yourself at any Key Club Event, Key Club will pay for your medical costs. Also, if you plan on attending District Convention (DCON) this year, you HAVE to be an official member of Key Club. So, get those dues in guys!

This Saturday (October 25th) is Fall Rally North (FRN). FRN is basically a fundraiser for Pediatric Trauma Prevention. This year, it's being held at Great America. Admission costs $31. We are meeting at IHOP before 9:15 am, but you can join us for breakfast there at 8:30 am. We should be at the park by 9:30 am, so please try to make it on time. And don't forget to wear green or camo. We need to show off our TROOPER PRIDE. ;)

Lastly, we are taking part in UNICEF's fundraiser for the children in Swaziland. We are collecting change with our special UNICEF boxes for the Swaziland children that were affected by HIV and AIDS. Ask people for any spare change to donate. Encourage anyone and everyone to contribute. We are making a difference with every penny. Please ask Hannah for a UNICEF box if you need one.

Hey Key Clubbers.

Welcome to the new school year guys! To start off this year, we have some exciting upcoming events.

RTC takes place September 27-28, and it costs fifty dollars to go. Ask Nhu or Jelly for a sign-up form. All payments are due by Tuesday September 8. RTC is a camping experience (and yes, it is going to be awesome).

If you are low on community service hours, Santa Clara's Annual Art&Wine Festival is coming up. It takes place on September 13/14. Just show up and you'll be assigned a job then and there.

The school Club Faire is coming up. It's said to take place on September 12, but the date is still pending.

Come to the Sonoma Chicken Coop on September 9 from 5pm-9pm. We are fundraising for FRN.

Lastly, we've had a change in region name, we are now:

Summer Events

Hey Keyclubbers! Happy Summer. Hope you've been having a great summer vacation. But even though it's summer, we still have quite a few Key Club events going on.

Relay for Life is taking place from July 12th through 13th this year. It's a 24 hour event. Our Relay Captain this year is Nhu Duong. We still need to find out who will be our team members. So if you're interested, e-mail Nhu at nhu.duong@gmail.com. For the relay, we'll need to know who will bring what (tents, banner, decorations, etc...) For any further information please contact Nhu.

Next on the list is the June DCM. It's taking place this Saturday, June 28th from 12 -4 PM. This DCM in particular includes swimming and food, so it requires a $7 fee. The DCM will be at Mary Gomez Park, which is located at the corner of Forbes and San Thomas. Please RSVP with Hannah if you plan to go.

The Kiwanis are collaborating with Direct Relief International are in charge of Share Old Spectacles (SOS). We need you to donate your old eye glasses that you don't use anymore. We're giving them out to the visually handicapped overseas. So be a helping hand and give sight to the ones who are in need.

Also, our Develop Africa project was extended in order to gather more used school supplies for the needy. Over the summer, when you have time, look through your old stuff and gather everything you know you won't use anymore. You can donate supplies like notebooks, pencils (non-mechanical), pens, color markers, crayons, backpacks, and everything like that.

Lastly, there are a few more dates to look forward to. OTC and the July DCM are taking place on July 26th. The September DCM is taking place during RTC from September 27 through 28 at Camp Jones Gulch, La Honda. Finally, Fall Rally North is taking place October 25 at Great America where we'll be raising money for PTP (Pediatric Trauma Prevention).

New Update!

Hey Keyclubbers. Here's a few announcements to keep you updated with what's been going on with Key Club:

The May DCM is coming up, come meet up the rest of the D12W division and see what's next on our list of community service projects. The DCM will take place this Saturday on the 31st of May @ Westmont Highschool from 11am- 2pm.

On June 1st, the Hip Hop Club will be having a car wash for Invisible Children from 9am-12 noon in the school's Bus Circle.

Bring in your old and unused school supplies to Mr. Jacquard's Class. Our Key Club will be sending care packages to needy kids in Africa who can't afford to buy any. Just bring any school supplies that you don't use; pens, pencils, markers, backpacks, notebooks, etc. even if their slightly used. No mechanical pencils, please. We don't think that they have lead to refill them.

Our Key Club is planning to have an Icebreaker Hiking Trip. Let's get together and get to know each other a little better. More info on the subject will be coming up soon.

The New KC Year Starts Here;

Hey Key Clubbers, it's Krystel, your new SCHS Key Club Bulletin Editor. DCON is done and over with. It's time to start the term. As we bid our farewells to our former board, we greet the new 2008-2009 board with a smile. Along with the new term , we have some new community service opportunities to go along with it.

Next Weekend, May 3rd & 4th, the Umoja Track Club is having their Third Annual Track and Field Meet. The track meet will be taking place at our school's track from 8am-5pm on both days.

This weekend, we'll be helping out the Interact Club. Interact in having a senior picnic on Saturday, April 26 from 10am-2pm. The picnic will take place at Picnic Pacific Grove (2384 Pacific Ave). If you need a ride, they'll be carpooling at the SCHS Bus Circle 9:30 in the morning.

The City's Fish Derby will take place at City Hall, Saturday Morning from 6am to 11am. Come out to help the Kiwanis and get some community service hours.

Key Club International's current Season's of Service Project is March of Dimes. The purpose of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Santa Clara Key Club will be helping our March of Dimes by fundraisers or visiting our local hospitals Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Stay tuned for updates on this project.

updates: events, events, events!

Hey you guys, it's Mary Ann, your SCKC Bulletin Editor. Sorry for the lack of updates on the site. There hasn't been much activity, just DCON preparation and, I forgot the password to this blogger. So yeah, that was my bad. Anyways, there are some events that you guys can participate in. Here we go!

Elections will be held this Thursday, March 27, 2008. Again, Mr. Jacquard's room, P6, during lunch. Please be prompt.

DCON Prep will be Saturday, March 29, 2008. The location is at Leslie's (LTG) House. I'll keep you guys updated on his address. Whoever is attending DCON, this is a mandatory event! This is optional for non-attendees. . Also, Dorothy Yen, our current District Governer, will be present as well. So go! go! go!

LTG Ball will be held on April 5, 2008 from 7:00pm-10:30pm. The current location will be at a hall in San Jose Polic Department. All of Region 5 will be there, so please, go! You can meet new people and the new LTGs for the new Key Club year!

Overview of December 13 Meeting

So for you guys that didn't attend the meeting, here's what went on.

Family Giving Tree: So we are participating in the Family Giving Tree.
When: December 21, 2007
Time: 12:00PM - 2:00PM
Where: 1210 California Circle. Milpitas, CA 95035

Wilcox Key Club will also be there and we might do a little luncheon with them after.

Unicef Boxes: So the UNICEF boxes can be turned into us anytime, but for us to receive a patch, we need to turn in the UNICEF boxes on December 16!

Holiday in the Quad: The event is Wednesday, December 19, during Lunch. Key Club will be selling Mexican Hot Chocolate and Apple Cider. We need people to walk around and help us advertise, so if you guys would like to, make signs :)

Kathryn Hughes Winterfest: Whoever went to the Harvest Festival, Winterfest is very similar. More information will be provided later, but for now, the date of the event is Tuesday, December 18. I'll let you guys know if there's any further information.

DCM: This Sunday, December 16, there is a DCM at Westmont High. It will start at 2PM and end at 5PM in Room 6. There will be a gingerbread house competition too! This is a great way to meet new people and fellow D12 West Troopers! :)

District Convention: So DCON is almost near (Okay, 4 months) DCON will be in Sacramento this year. The price this year is $138, which is due March 10. So keep DCON in mind if you guys are interested in going. I'll keep you guys updated if there's any new information concerning DCON.

Hey you guys. Mary Ann here. I hope you guys had an awesome Thanksgiving break. Break was short, huh!? Anyways, Key Club business. Sorry for the lack of updates lately. There hasn't been much going on, but once we go back to school, we'll get down to work.

Sorry that I haven't been blogging and updating you guys about things. I've been caught up with a lot of things lately. So just a brief update about Key Club week and a little recap about our meeting last Thursday.

Key Club Week: So for the folks that brought a friend(s) to the Key Club meeting Thursday, THANK YOU SO MUCH! The whole board appreciated it and we were all overwhelmed with the turnout! So thanks again for your guys' participation!

Gobble Gobble: The even will be on November 16, 2007, which is this Friday, at the Teen Center. Again, if you guys have any suggestions or you want to participate, please let any of the board members know.

UNICEF: Please continue collecting donations for your UNICEF boxes.

Committees: If you guys are interested in being of a committee chair, please talk to one of the board members. The next deadline for dues is December 1, 2007. Membership applications can be picked up at Mr. Jacquard's room, P6.

If you haven't picked up a UNICEF box yet, they're available in Mr. Jacquard's room, P6. Sign up with Mr. Jacquard.

Key Club week is next week, November 5-9, 2007.
- Monday: Show your K in every way day. This is the day when you spread the word about Key Club and get people interested. Wear your Key Club shirts!

- Tuesday: Kudos to the Key Players. This is the day where you get to recognize those special members who have been dedicated to Key Club. It's also a way to thank acknowledge those who support Key Club

- Wednesday: Connecting the Ks. This is the day where you should get together with other brances of the K-Family and work together to make a difference.

- Thursday: Bring a friend to Key Club. This is a day to bring a friend to a Key Club meeting and get them to join!

- Friday: Free the Children Adopt a village in Ecuador. This day you could riase funds for the Free The Children effort in Ecuador.

If you guys have any ideas for what to sell for Gobble Gobble or some service events, please let any of the board members know your ideas! We would love to hear them!

10/25/07 Meeting

Hey guys! Just going to recap about today's meeting. Thank you to all the people that attended the meeting! Another sucessful Key Club meeting on a nice Thursday afternoon :) Again, if you didn't attend the meeting, I'll feed you guys all the important information

Early Bird Dues/Membership Applications: $11 dollars plus your membership application should be turned in on Monday, October 29, 2007 (Next General Meeting)

UNICEF: To all the people that picked up a UNICEF box, thank you! If you guys forgot to sign up for a UNICEF box or are interested in participating, please see one of the board members and we'll sign you up, and you'll get your self a cool orange UNICEF box :) This year, UNICEF is raising funds for the Swazi Children Care Project (A lifesaving program that funds hundreds of neighborhood care points where orphaned and vulnerable children can recieve a warm meal, shelter, medical care, education and protection)

Kathryn Huges Harvest Festival: Tommorrow, October 26, 2007 is Kathryn Hughes' annual Harvest Festival. Thanks again to all that signed up for this event. The even will run from 3PM-7PM.

Secretary Candidates: The applications were due today. Again, thank you to all that applied. For the candidates, please await for a call-back so we can do a group interview.

Design Contest: November 5-9th is KEY CLUB WEEK! On the 5th day of Key Club Week which is SHOW YOUR K IN EVERY WAY day. So we're going too need suggestions and designs for T-shirts and pins. Designs are due on Monday, October 29, 2007.

Gobble Gobble: We plan to participate in the Gobble Gobble on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Teen Center. If you guys have any suggestions of what we can sell, please inform one of the board members.

DCM: Our monthly DCM will be this Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Quito Park in Saratoga. The DCM will start at 2PM and end at 5PM. Wear your Halloween costumes too! If you guys need the address, here it is:

Upcoming Events: There will be a craft fair, a tree planting event as well as a turkey drive, so heads up on that. We'll update you all with more information later.

A Few Changes/Other Information

Dues: Instead of dues being turned in tommorrow (Thursday), they're due on Monday, October 29, 2007. The membership applications for the dues will be handed out during the meeting as well.

Service Opportunity: this is a little short notice, but there's a great community service opportunity on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Kathryn Hughes Elementary for their Harvest Festival. Danielle will go into detail about the service project tommorrow during the meeting. So if you guys are interested, please go to the meeting!

Next Meeting: Since dues/member applications are due Monday, we will have another general meeting in Mr. Jacquard's room, P6.

A Quick Reminder

Hey guys! Just posting up a quick little reminder about dues, secretary business and our meeting this Thursday.

DUES: Early bird dues are due October 25, 2007 (this Thursday) It's $11 dollars for dues. Also, membership applications for dues can be pick up tommorrow in Mr. Jacquard's room, P6.

10/25/07 Meeting: Our next meeting will be this Thursday at lunch, in Mr. Jacquard's room, P6. We're going to be talking about dues, secretary business, service projects and other important information. Oh, and I will talk about our club site as well! Yay! So please attend the meeting. It's very important!

If you guys missed the meeting today, I'll recap what went on.

FRN (Fall Rally North):
- FRN is this Saturday, October 20, 2007.
- It will be held at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Vallejo, CA
- Park opens @ 10:30Am-9:00PM
- Rally starts @ 11:30AM in the Jungle Theatre
- Pay $28 in cash or check- Make checks payable to Cali-Nev-Ha Key Club
- Parking is $15

If you guys are interested in going, please see one of the boards members. If you can, please ask your parents to drop you off or try to catch a ride with some of your friends, because we are not providing rides to Six Flags.

Early Bird Dues:
- What: Money paid for membership. Includes brief/fun membership application
- How much: $11
- WHY!!
- Insurance, liability, security, and divisional finances
- IT ALL COMES BACK TO YOU!
- You must be a paid member to attend Key Club events (RTC, FRN, DCON..etc)
- Due by: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2007
- Can be turned in to any board member or Mr. Jacquard

Search for Secretary
- Applications are due by Thursday, October 25, 2007
- Can be turned in to any board member or Mr. Jacquard
- If any of you are interested in being Secretary, please inform one of the board members and get an application from any of the board members.
